Blue Healers Counselling Counsellor in Graceville Brisbane

Oliver de Nicolai

BA, GradDipCouns, MCouns

Practice Principal

Oliver is a skilled professional counsellor with extensive lived experience in various roles, including the Western Australia Police Force, sales and consulting. Oliver is registered with the counselling peak body, the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). Oliver supports clients of all ages with mental health concerns. He has a particular interest in those clients who are struggling with anger as well as men that are having challenges and not having a safe and open space to have their concerns listened to.

Oliver has been described as an insightful listener. He provides a compassionate and empathetic, safe space, allowing the client to be present, take a pause and be able to articulate the challenges they are enduring. Oliver listens and encourages the client to explore their thoughts, and feelings and, through non-judgmental exploration, be able to create their own “Ah ha” moments of self-awareness.

Sometimes in life, circumstances can change and we drift from our core values and goals, leaving us unsatisfied and stuck. Patterns of belief and behaviour can then develop that are unhelpful and hook us, pulling us away from the life that we want to live. With guidance, Oliver can help clients develop strategies to bring them to the present, enabling them to unhook from unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. Through these strategies, clients can then work towards the life they want to live. Oliver understands that each client is different and therefore uses and integrates different therapeutic modalities based on a client’s therapeutic requirements. The modalities that Oliver uses are Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Annette Parker

BHMS Counselling M.A.C.A

Counsellor

Annette is an experienced professional counsellor focused on empowering clients to find clarity in the present moment. She actively listens and engages in a space where clients are encouraged to explore and utilise their own wisdom and strength, promoting well-being and self-reliance skills. Annette is registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), the largest peak body for Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Australia.

In times of challenge and stress, we can feel overwhelmed, over stimulated, and ‘stuck” often resulting in procrastination, inactivity, depression and a lack of insight. A lack of direction can cause emotional dysregulation leading to destructive or self-sabotaging mechanisms to help alleviate anxiety and confusion. Annette implements strategies that incorporate client directed, solutions focused, and humanistic counselling as well as several CBT methods and practices in a warm, encouraging environment.

Annette has been described as non-judgemental, easy going, and compassionate; dedicated to “walking the journey” with clients of all ages and backgrounds, including neurodivergent and highly sensitive people (HSPs).

Annette is committed to helping individuals and families and is an experienced youth mentor. Operating from the framework of unconditional positive regard, Annette’s side interests involve positive psychology, mindfulness, motivational practices, and life coaching as an adjunct to human services and counselling modalities.
